But this folder may have been deleted at some point, or your computer's Documents directory may have changed. If the user files aren't in the location Sims 4 is actually reading, they won't load.

The launcher's installer has the same problem as the game itself, so the workarounds in the accepted solution of that thread work equally well for both. If you use the Lazy Duchess patch, you don't need to do anything else.
Origin client minimizes games while we are playing them. I timed how often this happens, and it does it every 5 minutes like clockwork. Origin client does this even outside of a game. The client window will minimize for a few seconds, then comes out of minimize 5 or 6 seconds later. Clearing the Origin client cache did not help me.
Unfortunately it seems that my games files are still located in C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\The Sims 4\Game\Bin. After some more investigating I learnt that EA App is located in C:\Program Files\EA Games which to me doesn't make any sense and there is nothing at all inside the EA Games folder where I you'd expect your game to be ...
I load origin up, press Sims 3 and it takes me to the game launcher, I press play and within 5/10 seconds it takes me back to origin. I've also looked in my EA Sims 3 folder in documents and there seems to be loads of unusual documents there starting with "xcpt BRIPC 20-04-19 00.21.33"
